Senior officials from different ministries and departments, including VK Tripathi, Chairman of the Board of Railways; Sanjeev Ranjan, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways; Rajiv Bansal, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation; Anurag Jain, Secretary of Industry Promotion and Domestic Trade Department, attended the meeting chaired by the Union Trade and Industry Minister.

The National PM GatiShakti Master Plan (NMP) aims to help achieve the goal of an “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” by providing visibility to the various stakeholders involved in infrastructure development. It will integrate the infrastructure projects of various ministries and state governments. Economic areas such as textile clusters, pharmaceutical clusters, defense corridors, electronic parks, industrial corridors, fishing clusters, agricultural areas, etc. will also be covered by the master plan, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a statement.

During a presentation by the Special Secretary, Logistics Division, DPIIT, the ministry’s progress on the targets set under PM GatiShakti was discussed.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has completed 1,41,190 km of national roads as of March 31, 2022 out of the target set of 200,000 km for 2024-25.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has completed the laying of the 20,000 km of 34,500 gas pipeline for the same period. The Ministry of Energy has already exceeded its target of laying the transmission network by 4,54,200 km until the end of March 2022.
The Department of Telecommunications created the OFC network of 33,00,997 km by March 31, 2022 against the target set of 50,00,000 km for 2024-25.
Highlighting the potential of the PMN GatiShakti, Goyal pointed out that improving multimodal connectivity to various economic zones will ensure smooth movement of goods and people. The PM GatiShakti NMP portal will provide an overview of the infrastructure and facilitate better network planning and faster authorizations. (ANI)
